Joe Seoul Man has compiled a rather extensive list of universities in Korea and the salary/vacation/housing that each provides. He has asked for reader contributions to complete the list but as it stands its a great starting point. Go read it.

For the adventurous teacher an opening is available in the “secure“ Northern area of Iraq.
25 contact hours and a tax-free salary in the range of $25,000 – $30,000 with 12 weeks of vacation. Ummm.. I think I’ll pass since I make more than that after taxes in Korea and get 20 weeks of vacation and I don’t have to worry about staying within the “secure“ Northern area of Iraq. I wonder if there is anyone crazy enough to take this job? I wouldn’t even touch it for 10 times that salary.

While surfing Dave’s Cafe I saw this thread. I followed the link inside to a newspaper site and the link there just takes you to a job finding site with no sign of the ugly teacher posting. Damn and I was thinking I would be uniquely qualified for this position.
update
The ad was posted in the above thread - find it here. Quoting the relevant parts in the extended entry.

I belong to a mailing list, and forgot how I got on it, that periodically mails out job openings within Korea. Most of these positions are teaching at Universities and should be much better than the typical institute job. I have decided to share this information but, I make no claims about credibility or desirability of each position, caveat emptor.

Back in April I wroe about the “English Village” where children are provided with a simulated English immersion environment. My basic take on it, was that it was overly ambitious and not likely to succeed. In a Dave’s ESL Cafe thread on user details the pro’s and cons Dancing likea Monkey at SEoul English Village. While I would never work in a place like this, because I cannot teach kids without going crazy some teachers may be interested.
In my earlier post I compared it to a theme park and further down the Dave’s thread JongnoGuru does as well:
Being turned away from this position, because you don’t look the part isn’t surprising. It is a theme park afterall. Additionally many hagwons will not hire a teacher who is not attractive. It sounds like a Monkey Petting Zoo to me. As it happens, the wife of an American I know told me she applied for a job at one of these Boring-School-Subject-Recast-as-"Fun"-Theme-Parks, and she was turned down. Why? She said the people who interviewed her (the family lives here in Seoul) told her she didn’t look the part. Now, she does look vaguely Hispanic, as many Americans do, but you certainly wouldn’t know that from how she speaks.
I’ve added the pro’s & con’s from the Daves thread to the extended entry.

I have just submitted my resignation to my current university job in Korea. This is a good school and I would highly recommend it to anyone. If you would like more information please send me an email. I was unable to meet with the director today as he is unavailable, however once I do I will be able to provide contact information for the school.
