5,000 TEFLers hit the Pavement

Nova a major chain for teaching English in Japan has folded stranding thousands of instructors (native and Japanese) without pay and leaving many students without lessons despite having prepaid. This is probably not a good time to head to Japan to look for ESL work as they will surely be flooded with applicants in a much tighter job market.

Does anyone in Japan know more about this situation? Alex? Marco? Aaron?
