permalinking Korea Herald Articles

I noticed a few bloggers complaining about not being able to permalink Korea Herald articles. There is a real easy work around for this provided you are using firefox. Go to tools > options > click the advanced button next to enable javascript and then uncheck disable or replace context menus.

After you do that find the article that you want to link to and right click somewhere in the text and choose this frame > open frame in new tab. You will then be able to copy the direct url to that page. You can see this in action by reading Robert Koehler’s article on the new visa regulations.

Thanks for this article!  I’ve been wondering about this for awhile.  Now I’ll link to the Korea Herald more.

Do you know why Korean websites do this?

I’m sure it’s not just Korean sites, but regardless it’s about control and the percieved ability to force readers to visit the front page and protect copywrite or some such thing. In any case all research, and personal experience, points to the fact that this type of web site loses visitors over time.

Hmmm when I try that, I don’t get the “frames” option in the menu that pops up.  Matter of fact, I only get about 1/2 the choices that you do.  Weird.

Nomad,
might be one of the extensions I’ve got installed that gives extra options - likely to be tabmix plus. Did you try the options you have to find one that works? if you have the show only this frame that should work as well.
