Some interesting posts recently
I’ve noticed a number of interesting posts by various bloggers recently that I haven’t really had the time to comment on at their respective blogs or write my own post related to what they wrote. I’m sure many will find these posts interesting reading.
Teacher in Development writes about helping students kick ass and the development of one learners passion for English through podcasts and portfolios that resulted in a completely new student. A definite feel good story.
Dan Kirk writes about a new student access centre at his university called English Support Lounge (ESL) - read the first entry and then the second. I’m particularly intersted in this as myself and a colleague have been running a similar idea around in our heads for a few months and may look to Dan for more ideas in the future.
The very prolific Teacher Dude has three posts that I want to highlight. The first two are about technology and the classroom. Forget Technology is about using what we have to enhance the classroom and not worrying about not having the latest tech toys. The Limits of Tech continues in a similar vein and concludes by stating that:
There are limits to what technology can do even in the best teaching situations. It is a poor substitute for the passion, imagination and knowledge that good teachers bring to the classroom.
Finally Using Podcasts has some insightful ideas on how to incorporate podcasts and the potential problems one might face.
Lastly Daniel considers whether we have students or clients in the classroom. Daniel also throws in the towel regarding an article he was writing.

Hey man,
Thanks for the mention! I have been having the same problem - reading great stuff from others, but not having the time to do much commenting on it. Shesh!
Have a great one, and thanks again for mentioning me on your blog.
